Our True Identity in Christ

 

Christ now rules His earthly kingdom from heaven and He is King over those who confessed Him as sovereign Lord.  He now is inwardly enthroned in the hearts of His saints. As in the future kingdom He will dispense grace, so He does even now to those who trust in Him. He bring internal peace within believers and now internally bestows those blessings upon His own people.

 

Following are a set of scriptures that who our true identity in Christ:

 

We are justified (declared “not guilty” of sin).    –   Romans 3:24 (ESV)  –  and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, –

We await no condemnation.  Romans 8:1 (ESV)  Life in the Spirit – 8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

We are set free from the law of sin and death.  Romans 8:2 (ESV) – 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

We are sanctified and made acceptable in Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 1:2 (ESV) – 2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

We are righteous and holy in Christ,  –  1 Corinthians 1:30 (ESV)  –  30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

We will be made alive at the Resurrection. – 1 Corinthians 15:22 (ESV)  –  22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

We are a new creation.  2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. –

We receive God’s righteousness.  2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)  –  21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. –

We are one in Christ with all other believers.– Galatians 3:28 (ESV)  –  28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.–  Ephesians 1:3 (ESV) – 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, –

We are holy, blameless, and the objects of God’s love.  –   Ephesians 1:4 (ESV) – 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

We are adopted as God’s children. – Ephesians 1:5–6 (ESV)  5 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

We are forgiven—our sins are taken away.– Ephesians 1:7 (ESV) – 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

We will be brought under Christ’s headship. – Ephesians 1:10–11 (ESV) – 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.  11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

We are marked as belonging to God by the Holy Spirit. – Ephesians 1:13 (ESV) – 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

We have been raised up to sit with Christ in glory.– Ephesians 2:6 (ESV) – 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

We are God’s work of art. – Ephesians 2:10 (ESV) – 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

We have been brought near to God. – Ephesians 2:13 (ESV) – 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

We share in the promises of the gospel,– Ephesians 3:6 (ESV) – 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

We can come with freedom and confidence into God’s presence. – Ephesians 3:12 (ESV) – 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.

We are members of Christ’s body, the church.– Ephesians 5:29–30 (ESV) – 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body.

We have been given fullness in Christ.– Colossians 2:10 (ESV) – 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

We are set free from our sinful nature.– Colossians 2:11 (ESV) – 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

We will have eternal glory.– 2 Timothy 2:10 (ESV) – 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
