Lesson #5

Lesson #5
Looking Through a Microscope

Opening Observations

Thinking about one person, theme, event or word is a most helpful way of studying the Bible.

This study puts the key word “faith” under the microscope.

It is possible to make such a study by tracking down the places where the word comes in the Bible.

A Study of the Word “Faith”

The table on page 15 sets out where the word “faith” occurs frequently in the Bible. The Bible book is followed by the relevant chapter. The verse number refers to the first occurrence of the word in that chapter. You will have to find how many other occurrences exist in the chapter.

By looking up these Bible references, you will have a good overview of the Bible’s teaching on faith.

List the various aspects of faith mentioned and the different people who have faith. Note the Bible reference under each topic or person, as you proceed with this study.

“Faith is being sure of what we hope for

and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

“I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me

and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

N.B. Some Bible versions use the words “believe” or “convert” in place of the word “faith.”
