Exodus 34:10-17
10 And he said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.
11 “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 12 Take care, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you go, lest it become a snare in your midst. 13 You shall tear down their altars and break their pillars and cut down their Asherim 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they whore after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and you are invited, you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters whore after their gods and make your sons whore after their gods.
17 “You shall not make for yourself any gods of cast metal. ESV
Exodus 34 – Verse 14: 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), ESV
Strongs: 7067. קַנָּא qannâʾ, kan-naw´; from 7065; jealous:—jealous. Comp. 7072.[1]
God described Himself as a jealous God and rightly so, He is “GOD”. All credit goes to God and He is in control of ALL things. He controls the present and the future.
Quote from Believers Bible Commentary:
Yahweh
is a jealous God; his very name is
Jealous, a formulation found nowhere
else (34:14; on the jealousy of God, cf. 20:5, notes).[2]
Quote from UBS Handbook on Exodus:
rsv marks this verse as a parenthetical statement because it begins with for (ki), but this is not necessarily so. (Verse 13 also begins with ki.) This verse corresponds to, but is not identical with, 20:3, 5. You shall worship no other god is literally “you [singular] shall not bow down to another god [’El].” The word for worship suggests the act of bowing down, so reb has “You are not to bow in worship to any other god.”
For the Lord, whose name is Jealous, literally “for Yahweh, jealous his name,” uses the same word for jealous as 20:5, but here it is presented as another name. The word may also mean “envious” or “zealous.” tan has “because the Lord, whose name is Impassioned.” It must be made clear in translation that the adjective is the name. Durham makes this clear: “whose very name is ‘Jealous,’ ” and njb has “since Yahweh’s name is the Jealous One.” The same word is then repeated, is a jealous God. And the same word for God is used (’El) as in no other god. (See the comment on ’El at 15:2.) However, if translators have difficulty using a name here, one may also translate the meaning; for example, “I want you to be completely loyal to me,” or “because I, the Lord, tolerate no rivals” (34:14 tev).[3]
“You must worship no other god, because Yahweh is jealous for his name. He is a jealous God.[4]
Exodus 20:15 – 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, esv
Deuteronomy 4:24 – 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Exodus 34 10-17 – Stressing Verse 14…
10 The LORD said, “I’m making my promise again. In front of all your people I will perform miracles that have never been done in any other nation in all the world. All the people around you will see how awesome these miracles are that I will perform for you.
11 Do everything that I command today. Then I will force the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites out of your way.
12 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you’re going. This will prove to be a trap to you.
13 But tear down their altars, crush their sacred stones, and cut down their poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah.
14 (Never worship any other god, because the LORD is a God who does not tolerate rivals. In fact, he is known for not tolerating rivals.)
15 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in that land. When they chase after their gods as though they were prostitutes and sacrifice to them, they may invite you to eat the meat from their sacrifices with them.
16 Then your sons will end up marrying their daughters. When their daughters chase after their gods as though they were prostitutes, they’ll lead your sons to do the same thing.
17 “Never make an idol.
