At times, when sick, loss of job, children situations, problems as work, stressful times, etc. – we may have need to seek ‘comfort’ – here are some scriptures that might help.
God’s comforting promise Jesus says at Matthew 28:20 (ESV) –“…teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
▼ God will comfort
As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you (Isa. 66:13); the Lord will comfort Zion (Isa. 51:3; Zech. 1:17); I will restore comfort to him (Isa. 57:18); I will comfort them and give them joy for sorrow (Jer. 31:13); God will wipe away every tear (Isa. 25:8; Rev. 7:17; Rev. 21:4); you will comfort me again (Ps. 71:21); may your loving-kindness comfort me (Ps. 119:76); may he comfort you (2 Thess. 2:17); are the consolations of God too small for you? (Job 15:11); in anxiety your consolations cheer me (Ps. 94:19); comfort my people, says your God (Isa. 40:1); the Father of mercies and God of all comfort (2 Cor. 1:3); I am the one who comforts you (Isa. 51:12); blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted (Matt. 5:4); the Father will give you a Comforter to be with you forever (John 14:16); the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name (John 14:26); God has sent me to comfort those who mourn (Isa. 61:2); he comforts us so we may be able to comfort others with the comfort with which he comforts us (2 Cor. 1:4); as the sufferings of Christ abound for us, so our comfort abounds through Christ (2 Cor. 1:5); as you share in our suffering so you share in our comfort (2 Cor. 1:7); if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation (2 Cor. 1:6); if we are comforted, it is for your comfort (2 Cor. 1:6); if there is any comfort in love (Phil. 2:1); eternal comfort (2 Thess. 2:16).
▼ God has comforted
Your anger turned away and you comforted me (Isa. 12:1); the Lord has comforted his people (Isa. 49:13; Isa. 52:9); you will be comforted for the evil I brought on Jerusalem (Ezek. 14:22); your rod and your staff comfort me (Ps. 23:4); God who comforts the downcast comforted us (2 Cor. 7:6); you have helped and comforted me (Ps. 86:17); the Lord answered the angel with gracious and comforting words (Zech. 1:13); I remember your ordinances and comfort myself (Ps. 119:52); Simeon was looking for the consolation of Israel (Luke 2:25); the poor man was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom (Luke 16:22); the rich man saw Abraham and Lazarus in his bosom (Luke 16:23); Lazarus received bad things and now he is comforted (Luke 16:25); the church was walking in the comfort of the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:31); my comfort is that you have revived me (Ps. 119:50).
