Mary-TheVirginSpiritualCompliantGIRL

Matthew 1:16 – 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary (Maria – G3137, LN93.253) , of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

– Mary, singular, famine –  (without husband).

Noting that Mary is a noun, genitive, singular, feminine means she was not married.

In the NLT, Mary is stated twice in a row – note, still in the “Singular” form:

1st  Mary – Morph:  NGSF – Noun, Genitive, Singular, feminine  –

2nd Mary – Morph:  RR-GSF  – Pronoun, Relative, genitive, singular, feminine

A virgin:  Luke 1:26-27

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.

IT is very important that she was a virgin.  Being such God could implant inside her womb the child Jesus without out involved of any human for the pregnancy.  It would mean that the egg (Jesus) was placed in her womb completely independent of any outside activity and would be God’s Miracle in transferring His human son to a cell.  Thus, he would be 100% Man and 100% God.  To understand that concept one finds it beyond our thinking as the limits of our mind prevents it.

When told Mary just asks:  “How will this be done?”

NLT:  34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”

It shows her to be complaint to the announcement by the Angel.  She was in full submission to God’s directive for her.  It was an attitude of “surrender”, I will do as you state.

The angel answers and provides the reason why it will be done this way…Thus, making the child to be “holy” – free from the sin passed down from Adam to all humans. – Luke 1:35-37

35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. 37 For the word of God will never fail.”

Mary’s answer and her declared position:  – Luke 1:38 – And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. [1]

She was a ‘servant (a female slave) of the Lord’, thus she would follow Him.

Louw-Nida 87.83 δούλη, ης f; παιδίσκη, ης f: a female slave—‘slave girl, slave woman.’

δούλη: ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν τῆς δούλης αὐτοῦ ‘he had regard for the humble state of his slave girl’ or possibly ‘he had regard for the humble state of his slave woman’ Lk 1:48.

παιδίσκη: οὐκ ἐσμὲν παιδίσκης τέκνα ἀλλὰ τῆς ἐλευθέρας ‘we are not children of a slave woman but of a free woman’ Ga 4:31.[2]

Is our spirit and attitude attuned to God’s will?
